Tropical Christmas Gift

After dinner beach visit

After dinner beach visit

This year, instead of giving gifts, I gave a trip to Key West.  And I went with it, too.

Aside from some travel delays, a cold and case of the flu, things went pretty smoothly.

It was a little strange to set aside all of the family traditions and spend Christmas Day at the beach, or have Christmas dinner in a tiki hut.  There were plenty of people with us in both places!

The hardest part?  Deciding on what to do each day.  The best part?  When the firemen decorated their trucks and drove around out small island serenading us with Holiday music.

And, when I got home today, I did not have a suitcase of things to find a place to store.

Quite a bit of sand in there, though.

  1. Looks and sounds wonderful! You did the right thing!
As I do not get along with the N.E. winters, it would suit me just fine. Glad you enjoyed it!

    • It was wonderful! I would do it again, but maybe a place less popular with tourists. The beach on Christmas is a tradition I could really get used to!

  2. What a fun and unique Christmas! I love the whole idea of giving memories rather than things.

We got a nice gift of the flu or some sort of illness, but being forced to slow down is a great thing!

    Happy New Year!

    • Happy New Year!
The flu visited us, too! It was a real test of whether we needed gifts to feel like it was Christmas. It was nice to see that they are not required. I did receive some great gifts, though. The snow boots were in use at home well before December 25th, and they are awesome.

  3. What a wonderful Christmas! We gave consumables this year so don’t have to find storage space either but all that warmth and sun would have been nice.

    • What a great idea! How did it work out? Was everyone happy with the gifts?
