Simplify Your To-do List
It is not enough to be busy… The question is: what are we busy about?
Do you ever just want to stay in bed so you don’t have to face the day? Is it ever because there is nothing to do, and you are just too bored?
No it is not.
More likely, there are too many things clamoring to be done, and not enough time or resources to get to them all. We all have a to-do list, whether it is on a post-it note, an online calendar or in the back of our minds. The lists seem to go on forever, and we start many of the items. At the end of the day, we barely make a dent in them.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
Tomorrow, give yourself a break for just one day. Choose a limited number of things to go on the list. One thing that must be done, and on time. One thing that is possible to complete in one day, and one thing that is a small part of a larger, important goal. So, what do you put on this short list? If ou only have a few choices, you will have to make them count. Set your intention to do those things that are most important.
Do the most important thing first, and complete it. Do the other two as the day moves along. Do whatever else you decide to as you have time, but hold yourself responsible today for only these things.
Did you get more accomplished than you expected?
This has two positive effects on your day: You have to decide what is most important to do, and you set your self up so it is possible to succeed.
How do you make your to-do list line up with your priorities?
